An alias is a gate between you and a store: leave it open to forward emails, close it to discard them, or remove it so the store can no longer reach you.
Pause an alias when a store starts sending promotions. While paused, new emails are discarded instead of reaching your real inbox, and can’t be recovered. Delete an alias when you no longer need it, and it will stop receiving emails.

Use a temporary address for one-time verification codes and a forwarding alias for member emails you want to keep receiving. Neither reveals your real email address.
An address is ready as soon as you open the page, for example coupon7xk2m@tempowl.com. Click “Copy address.”
Paste it into the email field, then click “Get verification code” or “Claim coupon.”
Your inbox refreshes automatically, and the verification code appears on its own. Copy it and enter it on the coupon page.
Temporary addresses last up to 24 hours. To keep receiving member emails, sign in, create an alias, and update your store account with the new address.

Temporary addresses last 3 hours by default. You can extend them up to 24 hours. After that, the address and all its emails are deleted and can’t be recovered, so be sure to handle anything important before it expires.
No. Temporary addresses only receive emails. Forwarding aliases send incoming emails to your real inbox but can’t be used to send email.
They’re discarded instead of reaching your real inbox and can’t be recovered. New emails will be forwarded as usual once you resume the alias.
Give each store a unique alias. Forwarded emails show which alias received them in the email headers. If an alias used only for “Supermarket rewards” starts receiving ads from other stores, the supermarket may have shared your address. See the leak lookup table for comparison.
No. Enter your real email address and sign in by verifying it with one email. Once signed in, you can create up to 100 forwarding aliases.
Stores only see the temporary address or alias you give them. Your real email is used only to sign in and receive forwarded emails; stores never see it.
Before entering your email next time, give the store an alias. Use a temporary address for verification codes—it’s deleted automatically after 3 hours. Use a forwarding alias for member emails, and pause it if the promotions become relentless.
First consider whether you might need to recover the account later, then choose which address to share.
For testing or one-time signups where you don’t need to keep the account, use a temporary email address. Don’t rely on it for account recovery after it expires.
Open temporary inboxCreate a unique alias for the store and have emails forwarded to your real inbox. Keep the alias to continue receiving order updates and account recovery emails.
Create a shopping aliasMake sure you’re not expecting any important emails, then pause the store’s alias. New emails will be discarded while it’s paused and can’t be recovered, even if you resume it later.
How to use one alias per storeUse a different alias for each website and note what it’s for. If an unfamiliar promotion arrives at an alias, start by checking the signup record for that alias.
| What you notice | What to check first | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Unfamiliar ads arrive at a shopping alias | Was this alias used with only one store? | Note where the email came from and check your use of the store and related services |
| A store sends too many promotions, but your order is still in progress | Are you still expecting shipping, return, or refund updates? | Keep receiving emails for now; decide whether to pause the alias once everything important is settled |
| You no longer use the store account | Does the account still rely on this alias for recovery? | Pause or delete the alias once you’re sure you no longer need it |
Aliases can help narrow down where an email came from, but the recipient address alone doesn’t prove a store sold your data. Forwarding aliases also don’t guarantee anonymity.
